Choir Families!

This week, I have had the pleasure of hearing your students sing their solos for All State. They have been brave and responsible learning their music for the past month.

As some of you may know, Solo and Ensemble festival is this weekend. I decided not to collectively take Eldorado students as this was my first year at such a large program and I was still getting my bearings on what kind of help I needed and what to do in and out of class.

I also wanted to do something different, where students sing on stage in the PAC and get comments from voice teachers, a Solo-thon This would also act as a fundraiser for the choir.

I hope you understand my decision to try a different approach this year. Next year, when I can get a better grip on all of the events happening in the first month of school, Solo and Ensemble will be encourage at a higher level.

In the next few weeks, we will continue learning music for our December concert and building our choir.

For the Solo-thon, my vision is that students dress very fancy as if they were giving a recital and sing their song. They will receive comments after the show. The cost will be $5 at the door. Since there are many kids singing, there will be an intermission. Students and families may stay the whole time, but do not have to. I know how busy you are!

Please excuse my error in not making Solo and Ensemble a bigger deal. Next year it will be highly encouraged. I also hope to give students their solos in May so they can prep over summer.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Musically yours,
Julia Rossignol
